Leather & Light

Artist Statement

My work combines traditional leather handcrafting with modern hot foil techniques. Foils are applied using a heated pen, and layered with paint to create images. The result can be reminiscent of cloisonné, brocade, or stained glass.

I use untreated vegetable-tanned leather as a canvas and often use colored leather as an accent. I want to expand the idea of leathercraft beyond the traditional dark brown and black, rugged-looking pieces often seen. I aim for my pieces to feel elegant while still being practical.

I like the idea of connecting with someone through a piece that uplifts them, and that they enjoy and carry through life every day.
